Activities

From 1976 until 1980 I worked on the recconstruction of the dustgrain photogravure process, as perfected by Karl Klíc in 1879. After teaching classes at art schools all over Europe I completed a book on the subject, “A Manual of Photogravure. A comprehensive working-guide to the Fox Talbot Klíc dustgrain method”, published by Joh. Enschedé in Haarlem in 1988.
A small selection of photogravures made by me can be found here.

From 1985 until 2002 I worked together with the Dutch photographer Jan van Dijk (1944-2016) on the reconstruction of the Woodburytype process.

Lectures and presentations have been given at numerous universities and institutions and for clubs and associations involved in the history of books and illustrations.

A list of upcoming courses can be found here. This course will be available in the English and German language soon. The English version will also be made available online. Please let me know by e-mail if you are interested and I will notify you as soon as the course is published.
I am currently working on a comprehensive book on the development of 19th century graphic techology.
